Start a Purpose Project

Philosophical Outlaws

A little over a year ago, I was confused. I was in my 2nd year degree, I was broke and had nothing to look forward to. I felt purposeless.

After my internship and a few cloudy months, I decided to start Philosophical Outlaws. I really needed something to work on, and test my skills in Social Media Marketing.

I didn't know much about philosophy, but I spent a lot of time on Instagram and discovered Philosophy and stoicism, and there were not many pages on philosophy.

So I decided why not start a philosophy page, I thought.

15 months later 100,000 people fell in love with love philosophy as much as I did not long ago. And knowing this everyday my life couldn't be any better.

I’ve learned a lot about what it takes to grow, both online and offline. Mostly that discipline and consistency are almost all that matters. But looking back, there was one thing that had the most impact - the choice that leads to the most growth.

Never discourage anyone who continually makes progress no matter how slow. - Plato

Starting a Purpose Project.

Some would call it a passion project, but I refer to it purpose project, you'll see why.

'Philosophical Outlaws' for me, is a definition of a purpose project.

When I wake up in the morning I wake up with a purpose. It's a project that gives me purpose.

If what you're missing is purpose or meaning , getting a project to work on, I think, is the ultimate way to find it.

It may not supposed to make you money. Maybe it would also cost you some. All you have to do is find something to which you can add, little by little, every single day. You'll soon discover what purpose feels like by doing so.

And no, you don't need a masterplan to get started.

When I started Philosophical Outlaws, there was no plan. The only plan was to do something, every single day. I just needed to feel a purpose - to have a reason to wake up in the morning. And as long as someone, somewhere, would see my post and get some value out of it, I’d have enough motivation to continue.

It’s definitely made me money but most importantly I’ve never felt happier. Having something to work on daily quickly dragged me out of a depressed state and launched me into one of fulfillment.

When you know that you might improve someone's day, all while growing your knowledge and skills, life gets brighter.

Deciding on a project to start may seem difficult, but it all comes down to following your curiosity.

You don’t need to have unique skills to start working on something, and you don’t need a fancy education to follow your curiosity. In fact, I’m not a graphic designer, nor a philosopher.

If I let any of that hold me back, Philosophical Outlaws wouldn’t exist, and I’d still be sitting around feeling purposeless. I was curious about Philosophy and Stoicism, so I ran with it. I didn't think twice.

Thanks to the internet, it’s never been easier to funnel your curiosities into a purpose project. If you put in the work and remain disciplined, not only will you feel purposeful, you’ll improve your skills, gain new knowledge, and if you’re lucky, you may even improve the lives of others.

If you’re not currently working on a Purpose Project, I highly recommend that you consider starting one.

I promise you’ll be glad you did. I know I am.
